Brett Wolfson-Stofko, PhD has conducted research on M. tuberculosis, HIV, HCV, HBV, and opioid overdose prevention. He received his PhD in Biochemistry from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Behavioral Sciences Training in Drug Abuse Research at New York University (Ruth L. Kirschstein National Service Award – NIH T32). Brett has been involved with the harm reduction movement since 2010 and has conducted frontline work at syringe exchange programs and overdose prevention sites in New York City and Toronto, respectively. He is experienced in conducting quantitative, qualitative, and ethnographic research and working with people who use drugs and those unstably housed. Brett is also an Affiliated Investigator with the Center for Drug Use and HIV/HCV Research (CDUHR) at the School of Global Public Health at New York University.

His research at VIRCAN focuses on strategies to increase hepatitis C screening and linkages to care, focusing on people who use drugs, those with psychiatric disorders, and immigrant populations. Brett is also a board member of the Toronto Harm Reduction Alliance (THRA) and advocates for the expansion of overdose prevention sites, safe supply programs, and affordable housing.
